Netherlands-funded education project approved

The Prime Minister has approved the second phase of the Netherlands-funded project, which aims to strengthen profession oriented higher education (POHE) in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister has approved the second phase of theNetherlands-funded project, which aims to strengthen profession orientedhigher education (POHE) in Vietnam.

The projectis part of the programme “Netherlands Initiative for CapacityDevelopment in Higher Education” in Vietnam .

The Ministry of Education and Training was assigned to coordinate withthe Dutch side to develop the outline for the project.

The ministry will be also responsible for conducting the assessment,approval and implementation of the project under the current regulationson managing and using the Official Development Assistance (ODA)capital.

Since 2005, POHE has helped to enhanceprofessional capacity for Vietnamese students through setting uptraining programmes, which focused on the needs of the labour market.

The project has also set a target of implementingtraining policies in accordance with social demand and building apolicy on profession oriented training model.-VNA

People leave cities for Tet in hometowns

On the afternoon of January 24 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon), traffic surged in big cities as flows of vehicles and people crowded major routes. Bus stations were packed with thousands of passengers heading back to their hometowns after a year of studying and working away from home.

Hanoi resident detained for anti-State accusations

Police of Hanoi on January 23 reported that they have detained and launched legal proceedings against Dau Thi Tam, a 45-year-old resident of the city’s Hoang Mai district for allegedly abusing democratic freedoms to harm the interests of the State under Article 331 of the Criminal Code.
