Netherlands, UNDP team up to accelerate circular economy in Vietnam

The Embassy of the Netherlands and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed to launch their Accelerate Circular Economy for Business (ACE-Biz) project serving a shared commitment to pushing the acceleration of the circular economy in Vietnam’s private sector.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Embassy of the Netherlands andthe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed to launch theirAccelerate Circular Economy for Business (ACE-Biz) project serving a shared commitmentto pushing the acceleration of the circular economy in Vietnam’s private sector.

According to a press release, theproject aims to contribute to Vietnam’s low-carbon and circular development by transforming business through formulating circular guidelines, deliveringcapacity-building programme and fostering technology transfer, anddemonstrating the certification scheme to promote exchanges of secondarymaterials and reusable goods through an online marketplace.

ACE-Biz will be jointly implemented by government bodies,including the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Natural Resourcesand Environment, and the private sector partners and academia, from both Vietnamand the Netherlands, Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, NX Filtration Company andSaxion University of Applied Sciences.

The new project will facilitate the development ofcomprehensive technical guidelines, enabling enterprises to integrate circulardesign principles and adopt circular industrial wastewater model.

Furthermore, it will offer tailored capacity-buildingprogrammes, equipping Vietnamese businesses with the knowledge and skills todemonstrate green production methods and reduce environmental pollution throughcircular economy practices. The collaboration aims to drive tangible change andestablish a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth by nurturing anetwork of circular economy champions in the private sector.

A significant demonstration component of the projectinvolves establishing a close – loop model for circular industrial wastewater.This model will showcase the economic viability of circular industrialwastewater treatment, inspiring and encouraging the adoption of similar modelsin other regions and industries.

Fitch Ratings upgrades Vietnam’s senior secured long-term debt rating to BBB-

The rating for Vietnam’s secured long-term debt was raised to BBB-, equivalent to investment grade, one notch higher than the country’s long-term foreign-currency rating on unsecured debt, which remains at BB+. The upgrade followed Fitch’s review under its revised Sovereign Rating Criteria issued in last September, said the Ministry of Finance.
