New Chief of Vietnam People’s Army General Staff appointed

Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Defence Minister, has been appointed as Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Hanoi (VNA) – Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Defence Minister, has been appointed as Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

President Tran Dai Quang handed over the decision to Lieut.Gen. Giang at a ceremony held in Hanoi on May 21.

The State leader recognised Giang’s outstanding performance and asked him to spare no efforts to defend national independence, sovereignty, unification, and territorial integrity while maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for local socio-economic development.

He expressed his belief that the newly appointed Chief will continue to fulfill all tasks entrusted by the Party, State and people.

The President also congratulated other military officials on their promotion to Major General, Lieutenant General and Naval Rear Admiral rankings.-VNA
