The Tan Cang Sai Gon Corporation inaugurated the Tan Cang-Hiep Phuoc port in Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City on December 15 by welcoming a first cargo ship.

The event showed the firm’s sustainable development strategy on port, logistics and maritime transport services.

Tran Hoai Nam, Director of the Tan Cang Hiep-Hiep Phuoc JSC, a subsidiary of the Tan Cang Sai Gon Corp., said the port, which was built on Soai Rap River, will make it easier for goods transportation among Asian countries.

After 11 months of construction, the first phase of the 1 trillion VND (47 million USD) project was put into operation, including a 300-metre wharf enabling to handle vessels of 50,000 DWT ( dead-weight tonnage) , among other facilities.

The second phase of the project is expected to finish next June.

Once fully operational, the port will serve as a goods-transit port hub for southern and western areas of Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta localities, thus helping reduce the overload for Cat Lai port.-VNA
