The Ministry of Transport has made numerous adjustments to the investment and construction standards for highways by issuing Circular No. 06/2024 regarding the National Technical Regulation QCVN 115:2024/BGTVT for highways.
Highways are required to have a minimum of four lanes (two lanes for each direction) with a continuous emergency stop lane.
The new standards specify that the design speed for expressways is classified into three categories: 120 km/h, 100 km/h, and 80 km/h.
For locations with particularly challenging terrain or security considerations, the Ministry of Transport allows a design speed of 60 km/h./.
