The People’s Committee of southern Can Tho City and the Municipal Transport Department held a ceremony on April 26 for the opening of a road segment, which now provides a direct route from the city centre to Can Tho International Airport.
When speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh said this important route will be a great help to Can Tho International Airport and help to facilitate socio-economic development in the city and the Mekong Delta region in general.
At 6.9 km long and with six bridges, the road cost 1,851 billion VND to construct, with the funding coming from government bonds.
The new road will help to turn Can Tho City into a transport hub for the Mekong delta region and an important part of the region’s transport network.-VNA
