As a mountainous province with diverse terrain, Yen Bai is a favorite tourist destination with many popular sites such as the Mu Cang Chai terraced fields, Na Hau Nature Reserve, and Khau Pha paragliding, and Giang Spring, among others.

New tourism programmes in 2019

On February 25, this light art show, themed “Youth-Spring-Dream”, was first held in Yen Bai, attracting crowds of local people and tourists.

In addition to contemplating the light art performances, young people also participated in cultural, art and entertainment activities.

On December 20-21, Luc Yen district (Yen Bai) for the first time organized a tourism programme entitled "Going to the Pearl Land." The programme was an opportunity for visitors to experience and discover unique tourist destinations and many rich and diverse activities such as an art programme introducing Luc Yen culture and people; visiting booths showcasing typical agricultural and forestry products and gemstones; seeing the process of making gemstone and fine art paintings; a goat fighting festival and traditional sports competitions; enjoying traditional dishes of the ethnic minorities in Luc Yen district.

At the program, a unique art performance including three chapters featured historical traces and landscapes, highlighting the beauty of the Pearl Land, dances and special cultures of the ethnic groups in the district.

The art performance attracted the participation of more than 100 artisans and locals from the ethnic groups.

In the framework of the programme, visitors also enjoyed a fireworks display and attended incense offering ceremony at Dai Cai temple and the opening of a centre showcasing the district’s specialty products. They visited booths introducing local products and a gem market where they had a chance to learn about the process of making gem paintings; as well as tourist sites in Khai Trung green plateau.

Continuing to explore potential places

The Northern Aviation Club and the Air Force Air Force have surveyed two more paragliding destinations at the top of Khau Pha Pass, Cao Pha commune and raspberry hill area in Ta Chi Lu hamlet, La Pan Tan commune.

According to the evaluation of the Northern Aviation Club and the Air Force Air Force, the peak of Khau Pha Pass is a paragliding point with good wind direction and about 300m higher than the old point (the new paragliding point at the top of the pass has a height of 1,504m), so the paragliding time will be longer and visitors can enjoy the scenery longer.

The paragliding destination in La Pan Tan commune is an area with the famous raspberry hill. From above, visitors will see the immense and majestic scenery of the mountains and the beautiful terraced fields.

Once the two new destinations are put into operation, they will reduce traffic congestion on National Highway 32 - section through Khau Pha Pass. In addition, they will form part of the tourism chain in the district.

Thac Ba Lake is one of the three largest artificial lakes in Vietnam and is one of the unique destinations of Yen Bai province. The landscape here is a harmonious combination between nature and humans. The lake is very quiet, with fresh, green and cool air and immense green forests.

On December 19, 2018, the Prime Minister signed Decision 1775/QD-TTg 2018 on the planning of the Thac Ba Lake National Tourist Area in Yen Bai province to 2025, with a vision to 2030.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has developed a scientific project "Planting Australian cajuput trees on semi-submerged land of Thac Ba Lake" with an area of over 20 hectares in order to cover semi-submerged land in the dry season and erase the area of mimosa pigra trees in this land.

With the current socio-economic conditions, the exploitation of tourism potential in Yen Bai has been more favorable than ever./.
