The central province of Nghe An has undertaken a number of efforts to accelerate the modern rural area building programme in 2015, according to the provincial Department of Agricultural and Rural Development.
The locality has organised publicity campaigns and mobilised different resources to implement the programme.
It has developed successful models of agricultural production and livestock farming, as well as provided assistance to improve the local rural traffic system.
In Anh Son district, as many as 3,862 hectares of agricultural land have been zoned off for large-field production. Rural markets, communal houses, schools and healthcare centres have also been built across the district.
A remarkable shift has been seen in agricultural production in Kim Lien commune in Nam Dan district, reducing from 63.9 percent in 2010 to 50.3 percent in 2015, while services have increased from 9.1 percent in 2010 to 15.5 percent in 2015.
Official statistics showed that so far this year, an additional 235 kilometres of rural road have been completed, raising the total length of the province’s rural traffic network to 1,215 kilometres.
Other communes have received certification as modern rural areas, 35 have met all requirements of the programme and another 40 fulfil between 16-18 criteria.
The national target programme on building new-style rural areas, initiated by the Government, set 19 criteria, aiming to boost rural regions nationwide.
The list includes the development of infrastructure, the improvement of production capacity, environmental protection, and the promotion of cultural values.-VNA
