The Ministry of Transport, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and the People’s Committee of central Nghe An province kicked off construction on a passenger terminal of the Vinh airport on April 26.
The 800 billion VND (38 million USD) project funded by the ACV covers a total area of 11,706 square metres.
The terminal is shaped like a pink lotus, commemorating such a flower in the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh .
It will be a modern civil-aviation terminal that meets the International Air Transport Association (IATA)’s Service Level C.
When the terminal is finished in September, 2014, it will be able to accomodate to six ATR72, A320 and A321 planes and one B777, and receive 1,000 passengers per hour, equivalent to 3–3.5 million passengers per year.-VNA
