Nghe An: students awarded Vallet scholarships

As many as 144 outstanding students from universities, colleges and high schools across the central province of Nghe An were awarded Vallet scholarships.

As many as 144 outstanding students from universities, colleges and high schools across the central province of Nghe An were awarded Vallet scholarships worth 1.3 billion VND (59,100 USD) in total at a ceremony on August 26.

This is the 15th time the scholarships have been granted to outstanding students in Vietnam, who have successfully competed in international and regional competitions, impoverished youth and those with excellent academic achievements during the 2015-2016 school year.

Speaking at the ceremony held in the Vinh University, Prof Odon Vallet praised the Vietnamese students’ efforts in the academic year and pledged to continue supporting the country’s outstanding students.

The scholarship fund was established by Oden Vallet through the “Meeting Vietnam” organisation.

Professor Odon Vallet from France received a 100 million EUR inheritance and has dedicated the annual interest on his fortune to poor students in France and Vietnam.-VNA
