NGO, Australian man support newborn care in Yen Bai

Non-governmental organisation VinaCapital Foundation and an Australian sponsor on February 28 presented medical equipment worth nearly 250 million VND (10,600 USD) to the healthcare centre of Van Yen district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, to help care for newborn babies.

Yen Bai (VNA) – Non-governmental organisationVinaCapital Foundation and an Australian sponsor on February 28 presentedmedical equipment worth nearly 250 million VND (10,600 USD) to the healthcarecentre of Van Yen district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, tohelp care for newborn babies.

The healthcare centre of Van Yen is in charge ofcaring for more than 123,000 residents in the district, most of whom are ethnicminority people.

The sponsor, Phil Jordan, has been working inVietnam for many years. After learning that the “Survive to Thrive” programmeof VinaCapital Foundation aims to help reduce the mortality of premature babiesin Vietnam, he decided to support this programme by raising funds online.

In September 2019, he took part in a 42km-longrun in the Vietnam Mountain Marathon in Sa Pa, Lao Cai province, a challenge hehad never tried before. Throughout the event, Jordan and his family called forthe community to make donations via website GoFunMe, successfully raising10,605 USD.

“Survive to Thrive” looks to help improve thecapacity for neonatal care by providing training for medical workers andpresenting essential infant care equipment, especially for remote localities.It hopes to bring the infant mortality rate in the country to 1 percent./.

Vietnamese scientists unlock genetic insights into rare diseases

All People’s Health Day promotes early disease prevention

The launch marked the first year the activity has been implemented in a coordinated manner nationwide. Free cancer screening, health checks to benefit 10,000 people in Hanoi

Participants will receive comprehensive health checks through a streamlined one-stop process, including blood pressure measurement, height and weight assessment, BMI and cardiovascular risk evaluation, blood tests, general examinations and specialist consultations in internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics, ophthalmology, ENT, dentistry and oncology. Rapid blood glucose testing and biochemical screening will also be conducted to detect diabetes and metabolic disorders.
