NGOs grant scholarships to ethnic students
The People’s Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) of the Vietnam Union of
Friendship Organisations (VUFO) on Nov. 19 granted 50 scholarships,
each worth 1 million VND, to ethnic students in Van Quan district, in
the northern mountainous province of Lang Son.

The scholarships, funded by Chung Soo Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Korea , the Korean Victims of Agent Orange Veterans Association (Kaova) and France ’s Aide Et Action scholarship programme, are included in a programme carried out by PACCOM in coordination with foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Addressing the presentation ceremony, PACCOM’s Director Don Tuan Phong said this is the second time the committee has presented scholarships to poor children.
The scholarship programme is aimed at encouraging students in difficulties to study harder, Phong said, adding that VUFO will further increase cooperation with foreign NGOs in implementing similar programmes, focusing on children of ethnic minorities and natural disaster-hit regions.
On the same day, Kumho Asiana-Vietnam Scholarship and Cultural Foundation (KVSC) funded by a RoK group Kumho Asiana, handed over scholarships to 130 outstanding Vietnamese students from 29 universities nationwide to help them complete their studies.
Established in 2007, KVSC has granted scholarships worth nearly 2.7 billion VND to over 550 Vietnamese students./.
