Nha Trang hosts int’l semi-marathon tournament

An international semi-marathon tournament was held for the first time in the central coastal city of Nha Trang on Oct. 11, jointly by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the central Khanh Hoa province and the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
An international semi-marathon tournament was held for the first time in the central coastal city of Nha Trang on Oct. 11, jointly by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the central Khanh Hoa province and the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

The tournament drew participation of 234 athletes from France, Japan, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, the US, and Vietnam. Japan sent 60 athletes to the event.

As a result, Nishida Takayuki from Japan finished first in the men’s 21-km event. In the women’s 21-km event, Nguyen Thi Binh from Vietnam won the first prize.

In the men’s 10-km event, Nguyen Vinh Thien from Vietnam won the first place and in the women’s 10-km event, Do Thi Hoai Tram, also from Vietnam finished first.

The 2009 Nha Trang international semi-marathon tournament was held under the sponsorship of the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, Yen Sao Khanh Hoa company of Vietnam , Evason Ana Mandara resorts and spa company, and Salonpas Hisamitsu of Japan .

It will be an annual tournament from next year./.
