Nha Trang submarine service pilot program extended

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed a document, allowing the extension of the pilot program for submarine tours in Nha Trang Bay, Khanh Hoa province. The pilot service will now continue until March 30, 2025, as recommended by the Ministry of Transport.

In the document, the deputy Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of National Defense, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Vinpearl Corporation, and other relevant agencies to implement the directives outlined in Document No. 635 dated July 12, 2023.

They are responsible for overseeing and managing the submarine service in Nha Trang Bay, ensuring compliance with national security, defense, and other legal regulations. The agencies will also regularly monitor and inspect the operation of the submarines and related activities to guarantee absolute safety.

In October 2020, the prime minister agreed in principle to allow the trial of submarine services in Nha Trang Bay.

The Ministry of Transport later allowed Vinpearl to offer the services on a trial basis from February 2021 to February 2023.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the service pilot. As a result, the pilot operation of the services was extended to July 2024./.
