Ninh Binh works to protect, develop aquatic resources

Ninh Binh province has actively promoted activities to enhance the protection, regeneration, and development of aquatic resources to prevent the trend of depletion. These efforts not only help maintain ecological balance but also effectively manage and exploit the coastal economic potential, providing livelihoods and economic benefits to local residents.

Ninh Binh province, with its 18.34 km coastline and diverse river system, offers ideal conditions for fisheries development. However, in recent years, aquatic resources have been in decline, mainly due to worsening environmental pollution, complex climate change impacts, and limited public awareness.

Ninh Binh has prioritized the protection and restoration of aquatic resources in line with the national fisheries development strategy for 2030, aiming for 2045. The province has focused efforts on enhancing enforcement of the 2017 Fisheries Law and relevant government directives to curb harmful practices like the use of explosives and banned fishing gear, and ensure sustainable management of these resources.

In the near future, the provincial fisheries sector will mobilize resources to enhance the regeneration of aquatic resources, focusing on releasing native species at risk of extinction. Efforts will include strengthening protection organizations at all levels, investing in infrastructure, and collaborating with authorities to monitor and address violations in resources conservation./.
