OANA delegates impressed by Hanoi’s development

Delegates at the ongoing 44th Executive Board Meeting of the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agency (OANA) have been impressed by the reform and development of Hanoi capital city.

Hanoi (VNA) –Delegates at the ongoing 44th Executive Board Meeting of the Organisation ofAsia-Pacific News Agency (OANA) have been impressed by the reform anddevelopment of Hanoi capital city.

Hosted by the Vietnam NewsAgency (VNA) during April 18-20, the meeting is under the theme “For a professionaland innovative journalism” and has attracted a large number of journalists frommajor news agencies worldwide.

The VNA has deployed dozensof reporters and technicians to the event to cover the latest news regardingthe meeting.

DeputyGeneral Director of the Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) Keo Chandara hailed the VNA’s thoroughpreparations for the meeting, saying that he is impressed by Hanoi’sdevelopment and the friendliness of local to foreign visitors.

He wished that Hanoi and Vietnamwould continue to thrive in the future.

Executive Director of the Emirates News Agency Mohamed Alrayssi said heis especially impressed by the beauty and warm hospitality of Hanoi. He wishedfor further cooperation opportunities with the VNA and other news agencies topopularise the capital city and other destinations in Vietnam.

OANA Secretary General VugarSeidov said that on his way from the airport to downtown Hanoi, he saw thecity’s breakthrough development. He described Vietnam as a rapidly-growingcountry, in which the VNA plays an important role.

Founded in Bangkok, Thailand onDecember 22, 1961 under the initiative of the United Nations Educational,Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the OANA is comprised of 44member news agencies from 35 regional countries, providing two-thirds of newscoverage globally. Everyday, member news agencies publish nearly 200 news, photos,and videos on the OANA website.

The OANA holds a triennial GeneralAssembly to elect an executive board with 13 member news agencies. The VNA is currentlya member of the board for the 2016-2019 tenure, while Azerbaijan State NewsAgency (Azertac) serves as OANA Chair. –VNA

Phu Quoc tightens inland waterway safety, traffic management

Attracting high-quality talent to strategic science, technology fields

Under the decree, students admitted to eligible programmes who meet entrance score requirements or are directly admitted, and rank among the top 30% of entrants, will be eligible for Government scholarships. The scholarships will be renewed annually based on academic performance and conduct.

Tireless efforts made to restore the names of fallen soldiers

Quang Ngai currently has 127 martyrs' cemeteries containing 37,689 graves, including 26 collective ones. Of these, 16,758 have complete information, 5,134 contain partial information, while 15,771 remain unidentified. Around 6,000 martyrs from the province have yet to have their remains located.

Vietnam Summer Camp 2026 strengthens cultural identity, deepens young OVs’ bond with homeland

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said the participants return to Vietnam at a particularly significant moment, as the country enters a new stage of development following the 14th National Party Congress. She noted that the ongoing reorganisation of administrative units has created new development space for localities and the nation, unlocking fresh potential, encouraging innovation and providing new momentum for faster and more sustainable growth.

Dak Lak team presses on with search for fallen soldiers

During the 2025–2026 dry season, Team K51 recovered and repatriated the remains of 27 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia. The achievement came after nearly seven months of searching through forests, crossing streams and following even the smallest leads.

Unlocking value of archives in search for fallen soldiers’ identities

Once digitisation is completed and a unified database is established, searches will become much faster and more accurate, providing an important foundation for the search for, recovery and identification of martyrs’ remains and for better implementing policies for people with meritorious service.

Mortal remains of Indian victims in Phu Quoc speedboat accident repatriated

The mortal remains of 15 Indian tourists who died in the speedboat capsize off Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of An Giang were handed over to the Indian side and transported on a flight departing at 18:00 on July 13 for their homeland, in accordance with the wishes of the victims' families.

"I Love My Fatherland" journey reaches Lung Cu Flag Tower

This year's journey comprises of seven stages linked to historical, cultural and revolutionary sites across the country.
