A whale weighing around one tonne caught in a net offshore the central province of Quang Binh was rescued and safely released back to the sea on May 22.
The 5m long whale was found by Ngo Van Thuan and Ngo Van Thuy - two fishermen in Le Thuy district, on the morning of May 22.
The fishermen then pulled the animal to the shore and reported to the local People’s Committee. The same day, local authorities, coastguards and fishermen worked to return it to the sea safely.
According to Ngo Gia Ngai, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ngu Thuy Trung commune, Le Thuy district, late last year, local fishermen also released a sea turtle weighing nearly 400 kg.-VNA
