Hanoi (VNA) – Delegates from more than 300universities from over 30 countries worldwide have participated in the One AsiaConvention Hanoi 2018 – Hope for the Future in Hanoi.

The convention was co-held by the University of Languagesand International Studies (ULIS), Vietnam National University, Hanoi and OneAsia Foundation on August 3 to provide a forum for politicians, managers andscientists to share knowledge and experience in promoting a common prosperityin Asia.

According to Vice Chairman of the National Assembly’sCommittee for External Affairs Nguyen Sy Cuong, reports delivered at the eventcovered a number of today’s pressing issues, notably solutions to climatechange and development of communications and science-technology in the era ofIndustry 4.0.

Some addressed opportunities and challenges to the futureof the Asian Community and other issues related to culture, education,migration, labour movement and win-win solutions to conflicts and disputes, headded.

ULIS Rector Do Minh Tuan said during the event, delegatescontributed ideas towards a common goal of maintaining peace, stability anddevelopment, and strengthening solidarity and cooperation within the AsianCommunity in the future.

One Asia Foundation is a non-profit organisation foundedin Japan in 2009, aiming to contribute to the establishment of Asian Communityin the future. It has a basic fund of around 10 billion JPY. The foundation hasto date provided scholarships for more than 8,000 people and financiallysupported over 5,000 scholars and researchers of Asian studies. It has alsoopened about 1,000 courses on Asian studies in 120 universities. –VNA

Hanoi offers free parking, public transport during Lunar New Year

During Tet, Hanoi offers free parking at selected schools and locations surrounding central heritage sites. In addition, single-journey fares are waived on the Cat Linh–Ha Dong and Nhon–Hanoi Station metro lines, while subsidised public bus services across the city are operating free of charge during the holiday period.
