Hanoi (VNA) – More than 66,200 local people and foreigners paid tribute to latePresident Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum between April 29 and May 2, according to Hanoi Police.

PresidentHo Chi Minh was born on May 19, 1890 in Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, thecentral province of Nghe An. He devoted all of his life to the nationalliberation cause while tirelessly striving for peace and progress in the world.

Heled the nation to success in the struggle for national independence and inestablishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam following the August Revolutionin 1945.

ThePresident passed away in 1969.

The Ho Chi MinhMausoleum Management Board has over the past four decades performed well thetask of preserving the body of late President Ho Chi Minh.

The mausoleum openedto the public on August 29, 1975, and has welcomed more than 52 millionvisitors as of 2016.

Efforts have beenmade to maintain and upgrade the mausoleum and surrounding area, making it ahighlight of Hanoi and a tourist destination.

Scientists of theformer Soviet Union and now Russia have taken part in the long-term conservationof the late leader’s body.-VNA

Hanoi resident detained for anti-State accusations
