Over 80 artisans to demonstrate skills at silk festival in Hoi An

Hanoi (VNA) – The fifth culture silk and brocade festival is scheduled totake place on August 7-9 in the Hoi An silk village of the central province ofQuang Nam.

Eightcountries and dozens of silk and brocade villages of Vietnam will introducetheir products in this year’s festival.

Inaddition, more than 80 artisans will perform their traditional weaving and dyeingmethods at the event.

In 2015,Hoi An silk village represented Vietnam and joined the Asia Silk Alliance asone of seven founding members with the mission of linking Vietnamese silkenterprises with the wider Asian silk community.

The village is a silk-weaving centre and livingmuseum of the ancient trade in the central region, and was voted as the thirdbest attraction in Hoi An city, itself a must-visit destination to tourists forthe beauty of its ancient streets, by travel website TripAdvisor in 2015.-VNA
