Overseas Vietnamese in the US will invest in a 700 million USD project to build a green technology waste treatment plant on 1,760ha in Thu Thua district, in the southern province of Long An.
The project will be carried out by California Waste Solutions (CWS) and Vietnam Waste Solutions (VWS), which are owned by overseas Vietnamese.
The project will apply advanced technologies following US standards for environmental protection and be compatible with Vietnam ’s Environmental Protection Law.
The plant will be capable of treating harmful, medical, industrial and electronic waste, polluted mud and waste water.
On Oct. 7, CWS and VWS General Director David Duong said the first phase of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.
Under the project, a centre will be established to provide education on environmental protection for the community and a system to turn waste into energy will be implemented./.
