Overseas Vietnamese welcome Lunar New Year

In Indonesia, ASEAN Secretary-General Le LuongMinh joined a celebration at the Vietnamese Embassy in Jakarta onFebruary 2.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Canada helda New Year get-together for overseas Vietnamese in Canada andCanadian families that have adopted Vietnamese children.

On the occasion, Ambassador Le Sy Vuong Ha informed the participantsabout the up-coming inauguration of the Vietnam Consulate General inVancouver. The diplomat also expressed thanks to the Canadian familiesfor their love and care for the adopted Vietnamese children.

Addressing the event, Canadian Senator Pierre Huges Boivenue extendedhis best wishes to Vietnamese people and the Vietnamese Embassy inCanada.

He said Canada treasures its relationswith Vietnam as both countries prepare for the 40th anniversary ofbilateral diplomatic ties this year.

Also onFebruary 2, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea (RoK)held a Tet celebration for Vietnamese living in the country.

Honorary President of the RoK-Vietnam Friendship Association Lee HeeYeon said that he will continue to work for the two countries’friendly and cooperative ties.

Earlier, on February1, around 500 Vietnamese people gathered at a Tet celebration held atthe Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore .

Singaporean Deputy Foreign Minister Simon Wong and Lao Ambassador to Singapore Vengsavanh Sipaseuth attended the event.

There are around 12,000 Vietnamese people in Singapore. Theyinclude more than 8,000 students and over 1,000 business people.

Vietnamese embassies in Laos, Italy and Belgium, and VietnameseConsulate Generals in Sydney (Australia), Houston (the US), Hong Kongand Ma Cau (China), as well as the Vietnamese delegation to the UnitedNations, also held get-togethers to welcome Tet.-VNA

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.

Shift to data-driven administrative procedures needs acceleration

Under a draft decree replacing Decree 63, authorities will have to proactively pull information from databases and records for informational or technical procedures.
