OVs in Laos assist Truong Sa islanders

As many as 125 overseas Vietnamese (OV) households in Luang Prabang province, Laos have donated 10 million kip for soldiers and residents in Truong Sa island district, central Khanh Hoa province.

The money was granted by Ly Phi Hoi, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Luang Prabang in Vientiane on April 29.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Manh Hung expressed his thank toOVs in Luong Prabang, promising to soon send it to Truong Sa islanders.

He expressed his hope that Vietnamese community willunite to look towards the homeland and together with the Lao peoplefoster the special relationsgip between the two nations.

For his part, Hoi stressed that despite undergoing severalgenerations, OVs living in Luang Prabang stillmaintain their nationalidentity by learning Vietnamese and contributing to the nation.

Over the past time, OVs in Vientiane city, and Xieng Khouang,Khammuoan, Bolikhamxay, Savannakhet and Attapeu provinces have donated2,500 USD and 4 million kip for soldiers and residents on Truong Saarchipelago.-VNA
