Vietnamese throughout the world have organised a series of activities to show their love towards the country and oppose China ’s illegal placement of its oil rig in Vietnam’s waters.
On June 8, more than 1,000 Vietnamese people in Russia joined a meeting in Moscow to protest against China ’s provocative acts in the East Sea .
Addressing the event, Nguyen Quoc Hung, a representative of the Association of Vietnamese People in Russia , emphasised the determination of the community to accompany the nation and the government in the struggle to safeguard national sovereignty.
The Vietnamese community in Russia resolutely request China to immediately stop its wrong and perverse actions in Vietnam’s waters irrespective of justice and international law and unconditional withdraw its oil rig from Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, he said.
In Germany , Vietnamese traders at the Dong Xuan Trade Centre, launched a campaign to raise funds for fishermen and law enforcement forces of Vietnam . By June 7, 56,000 EUR had been mobilised.
Earlier on June 7, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand organised a meeting with Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Bangkok to inform them of the situation related to China ’s illegal rig deployment as well as the measures undertaken by the Vietnamese Government to respond to China ’s acts.
The Vietnamese community in Thailand also raised 350,000 THB to buy gifts for fishermen and soldiers back home.-VNA
