Geneva (VNA) – A delegation of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education held working sessions with leaders of the Swiss Party of Labour and the Switzerland–Vietnam Friendship Association in Bern, Switzerland on November 17.
The delegation was led by deputy head of the Commission for Communications and Education and permanent vice president of the Steering Committee for External Information Service Pham Van Linh.
During the meeting with President of Swiss Party of Labour Gavriel Pinson,
Pham Van Linh expressed his appreciation of the party’s support for Vietnam over the past years, and hoped the friendship relation will be bolstered in the time ahead.
The Party official also thanked Chairwoman of the Switzerland–Vietnam Friendship Association Anjuska Weil for her great contributions to developing the ties between the two countries, especially the association’s support for Vietnamese Agent Orange victims.
Speaking with a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Geneva, Pinson said he hopes to visit Vietnam soon and pledged to continue cementing the solidarity with Vietnam’s Party, State and people in many important international issues.
Meanwhile, Weil said she has visited Vietnam several times and is impressed by the reform process and economic development of the country. She also expressed deep sympathy for Agent Orange victims.
On November 18, the Vietnamese Party delegation had an experience exchange with the Editor in Chief of the Geneva-based Gauchdbo newspaper, Joel Depommier.
The delegation also held working sessions with the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation and other international organisations in Geneva.-VNA
VN, Switzerland seek stronger cooperation
Switzerland will continue to promote cooperation with and provide assistance for Vietnam in the fields of finance, banking, foodstuff, pharmacy, industry and cement, a Swiss official has said.
