A delegation from the Science Council of commissions of the Party Central Committee paid a working visit to South Africa from September 15-19 to study the country’s policies on science and technology.
At a working session between the delegation and the South African Department of Science and Technology in Pretoria , the two sides informed each other of their countries’ policies to develop science-technology and their achievements in scientific research and technology apply and transfer.
The Vietnamese delegation was particularly interested in South Africa ’s policies on scientific research institutes and centres, mechanisms to manage research activities and technology transfer, as well as the role of businesses in technology application.
Director of Overseas Bilateral Cooperation in the department Vinny Pillay said the delegation’s visit reflects efforts to consolidate and intensify multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of science and technology.
In Cape Town, the delegation had a meeting with D.H. Mathebe, member of the National Assembly, to exchange views on the legislative body’s role in making policies in general and those on science-technology in particular.-VNA
