PhnomPenh (VNA) – A high-ranking delegation from the Party CentralCommittee’s Inspection Commission led by Tran Cam Tu, Secretary of the PartyCentral Committee and head of the commission, had meetings with the Cambodian National Assembly and Senate leaders and Deputy Prime Minister on January 10.

The delegation met Honorary President of theCambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Chairman of Cambodia’s National AssemblyHeng Samrin; Vice President of the CPP and President of the Cambodia’s SenateSay Chhum; and Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An.

Atthe meetings, Tu briefed the hosts on major events in Vietnam and the outcomesof talks between the Vietnamese delegation and the CPP Inspection Commission delegation.

Hecongratulated Cambodian people on their important achievements in nationalconstruction and development, expressing his belief that under the reign ofKing Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of the Cambodian National Assembly,Senate, and Government, the Cambodian people will go on to achieve even greatersuccess.

Tuthanked the Cambodian people for their support and warm sentiments towardsVietnam so far, affirming Vietnam’s unrelenting policy of exerting every efforttogether with the Cambodian side to preserve and promote the traditionalfriendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam andCambodia on the foundation of the substantial principles and orientationsdefined by the two parties and countries.

TheCambodian side conveyed their delight at the great achievements that Vietnamhas made during the renewal cause, as well as the working results between thetwo commissions.

Theyexpressed deep gratitude for Vietnam’s timely and effective help given toCambodia during its national liberation, saving Cambodian people from thegenocidal regime and ending the darkest period in Cambodia’s history andreviving the nation, as well as during its current period of nationalconstruction and defence.

Thetraditional solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation betweenVietnam and Cambodia is a priceless asset shared by both nations that needs tobe passed on to the younger generations.

Duringthe visit, Ty and the Vietnamese delegation also burnt incense and laid flowersat the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument. They worked with theAnti-Corruption Unit of Cambodia and the municipal Party Committee of PhnomPenh, while visiting the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of theVietnamese Cambodian Association, as well as Vietnamese investors in Cambodia.–VNA

Vietnam, Cambodia step up defence cooperation

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said his country values defence cooperation with Vietnam, pledging to support and facilitate Vietnam’s efforts to locate and repatriate the remains of the volunteer soldiers. Brazilian President begins state visit to Vietnam
