Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese Embassies across Europe and the Middle East are holding respect-paying ceremonies and opening condolence books for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on July 25 and 26.
In Germany, representatives from numerous diplomatic missions, the German Federal Foreign Office, the Office of the President visited the embassy immediately after the opening of the condolence book to pay tribute to the late leader.
Cambodian Ambassador to Germany Thyra Chheang offered his deepest sympathies over the great loss, saying that General Secretary Trong will be remembered as one of the great leaders of Vietnam.
Dr. Axel Gerhing of the Left Party (Die Linke) wrote in the book that the party appreciates General Secretary Trong’s approach in laying the foundation for peace and cooperation.
Many delegations from unions and associations of Vietnamese people in Germany came to the embassy to offer incense in memory of the late Party chief.
In Switzerland, many diplomatic missions in Geneva came to the Vietnam Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the WTO and other international the World Trade Organization and other International Organizations at Geneva to pay tribute to the late leader. They expressed sorrow at his death, and appreciate the late leader’s contributions to Vietnam’s development and relations with other countries.
Ambassador Gennady Gatilov, head of the Russian permanent mision said General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has made great contributions to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam. He said with the recent visit to Vietnam of President Vladimir Putin, Russia always wants to cooperate with Vietnam in all aspects from politics to economy and socio-culture.
The head of the Chinese mission, Ambassador Chen Xu wrote in the condolence book that China-Vietnam relationship has deepened thanks to leaders of the two countries, particularly Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping. He described the late leader of Vietnam as a strong advocate of cooperation between the two countries, who also made great contributions to global peace and development.
The same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Bern also opened a condolence book for the late Party leader. Many Vietnamese living in Switzerland have come to pay their last respects.
In Belgium, representatives from the Belgian Monarchy, politicians, diplomats and delegates from foreign diplomatic missions, came to the Vietnamese Embassy in Brusssels to pay last respects to the Vietnamese leader after the embassy opened the condolence book on July 25.
The messages in the condolence book expressed sorrow and respect for the late leader and praised his contributions and legacy to Vietnam’s development and relations with other countries.
Following the opening of the condolence book at the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK on July 25, representatives from the Communist Party of Britain, local agencies, organisations and business, foreign embassies, and Vietnamese representative missions as well as associations of Vietnamese in the UK, came to the embassy to offer their sympathies and share their impressions about the late leader.
The respect-paying ceremony for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the embassy lasts through July 26.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Prague opened a respect-paying ceremony and a condolence book for the late Party leader on July 25. Many international friends and Vietnamese living in the Czech Republic came to the embassy to pay their respect.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Eduard Hulicius wrote in the condolence book that General Secretary Trong is a prominent leader who has made great contributions to the prosperous development of Vietnam and the bilateral relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic. The same day, the Vietnamese Embassies in Israel and Iran also opened respect-paying ceremony and condolence books from July 25-26. On the first day, many delegates from foreign diplomatic missions, international friends and Vietnamese in the host countries paid last respects to the late Vietnamese leader and wrote in the condolence books./.
