Party leader, President receives Lao counterpart

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong on October 28 hosted a reception for his Lao counterpart Bounnhang Vorachith and a high-ranking delegation from the Lao Party and State, who are on a Vietnam visit to attend the ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Experts in Laos.

Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary and President Nguyen PhuTrong on October 28 hosted a reception for his Lao counterpart BounnhangVorachith and a high-ranking delegation from the Lao Party and State, who areon a Vietnam visit to attend the ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Expertsin Laos.

Hailing their visit, the Vietnamese leader described it as a source of encouragementfor the Vietnamese Party, State, army and people, especially former Vietnamesevoluntary soldiers and experts in Laos.

He highlighted the close fraternity between the two nations who have stoodshoulder-to-shoulder with each other in their struggles for national liberationand construction.

The leader congratulated Laos on the country’s achievements in the past time,expressing his belief that under the leadership of the Lao People’sRevolutionary Party (LPRP), the Lao people will reap further results in therenewal process, realise all targets set by the 10th Congress of theLPRP, and successfully organise the party congresses at all levels.

Bounnhang Vorachith, for his part, expressed his delight at the specialsolidarity and robust relations between the two countries which have beendeveloped in various sectors and brought practical benefit to each people.

He took the occasion to thank Vietnam’s whole-hearted support in the pastyears, affirming Laos will coordinate with Vietnam to carry out agreementsinked between the two Parties and States, contributing to elevating the greatfriendship, special solidary and comprehensive cooperation to a new high.

The Lao leader spoke highly of the roles of the Vietnamese voluntary soldiersand experts in Laos, saying they made positive contributions to the Laorevolution.

The Lao Party, State and people always feel an immense gratitude to therelatives of Vietnamese martyrs, wounded soldiers, and former Vietnamesevoluntary soldiers and experts in Laos, he stressed.

At the event, both leaders agreed that the celebration will offer a goodoccasion for the two countries to look back on their special solidarity, andshow gratitude to the contributions by the Vietnamese voluntary soldiers andexperts to the revolutionary causes of the two Parties, as well as independenceand freedom of the two peoples./.
