Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh received a delegation from the Lao People’s Army General Politics Department led by its director, Lt. Gen. Sengnouane Sayalat, in Hanoi on June 1.
The Party leader said he was pleased with fine developments in the Vietnam-Laos special relationship and thanked the Lao people’s great and valuable assistance for Vietnam during the struggle for national independence in the past as well as in the current national defence and construction.
He affirmed that the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, which was fostered by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane and cemented by many Vietnamese and Lao generations, is a priceless asset of the two nations and a decisive factor to the victory of each country’s revolution.
Therefore, the two sides must preserve and promote that relationship for the benefits of each country’s people and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world as well, he stressed.
For his part, Lt. Gen. Sengnouane Sayalat, who is also Deputy Minister of Defence, affirmed that the Lao Party, State, army and people will try its best together with Vietnam to incessantly consolidate and develop their traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation./.
