Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Party CentralCommittee’s Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh highlighted the progress inVietnam-Japan cooperation while meeting with Japanese Minister of Economy,Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko in Hanoi on May 22.

Binh said the strides made in bilateralpartnerships in trade, investment and many other spheres have brought aboutpractical benefits to people of both Vietnam and Japan, helping to step up thetwo countries’ relations in a comprehensive manner.

Vietnam is integrating more deeply into regionaland global economies, he said, expressing his belief in the nations’ closeconnectivity within bilateral and multilateral trade frameworks.

For his part, Minister Hiroshige Seko spokehighly of the potential and development prospect of Vietnam’s economy.

Japan attaches importance to enhancingmulti-faceted cooperation with Vietnam and considers the Southeast Asian nationan important partner in ASEAN and Asia-Pacific, he noted.

He voiced his belief that the Japan-Vietnam tieswill develop even more strongly for the sake of each country’s interests andfor peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and theworld.-VNA

Resolution adjusting 2025 socio-economic development plan adopted

Under the resolution, the legislative body decided to adjust some key targets. Accordingly, the gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate is set to reach 8% or higher, with the GDP scale this year expected to exceed 500 billion USD. According to the resolution, the construction of a modern and harmonious railway aims to meet the transport demand between Vietnam and China. The initiative is expected to serve as a catalyst for rapid and sustainable economic development along the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong economic corridor while strengthening national defence and security and promoting the industrialisation and modernisation, contributing to delivering on the targets and missions set at the documents of the 13th National Party Congress and the Party’s resolutions.

NA deputies to approve several resolutions, laws on February 19

The deputies will pass a resolution addressing issues related to the streamlining of the political system’s organisational apparatus, a resolution on supplementation to the 2025 socio-economic development plan with a growth target of at least 8%, and another on pilot policies to remove barriers in science-technology research and innovation activities.
