People-elected bodies’ budget supervision improved

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will work with the National Assembly’s Committee for Finance and Budget Affairs to improve the people-elected bodies’ budget supervisory capacity.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will work with theNational Assembly’s Committee for Finance and Budget Affairs to improvethe people-elected bodies’ budget supervisory capacity.

A seminar to kick-start a project on the work took place in Hanoi on April 15.

Withthe funding of 2.456 million USD, the project will see theparticipation of the National Assembly’s Ethnic Council and organs andthe people’s councils of 30 provinces and cities nationwide in the2013-2015 period.

Data and analysis on budgetaryaffairs, especially their effects on people, are expected to be providedfor NA deputies and the NA Committee for Finance and Budget Affairs tohelp them perform well their decision making and budget oversight.

Meanwhile, the municipal and provincial people’s councils will beequipped with skills to make right decisions for their local sustainabledevelopment.

Addressing the seminar, UNDP Country DirectorLouise Chamberlain said in the current public financial reform, priorityshould be given to raising the capacity of the NA and people’s councilsin monitoring budget to ensure transparency and accountability.-VNA

The dispatch states that in implementing Conclusion No. 18-KL/TW dated April 2, 2026 of the 14th Party Central Committee on the 2026–2030 socio-economic development plan, national finance, public debt management and medium-term public investment, linked to the goal of achieving double-digit economic growth, the Government on April 29 issued 11 resolutions on cutting, decentralising and simplifying administrative procedures, business conditions, and conditional business lines. The Prime Minister subsequently directed ministries, agencies and localities to implement these resolutions.
