Party Politburo member Nguyen Sinh Hung has urged the People’s Police to set a good example and lead others in implementing Resolution 4 of the Party’s 11th Central Committee on strengthening the Party and the Politburo’s Directive 03 on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example.

Hung, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly, made the call at a working session with the Central Police Party Committee in Hanoi on August 9.

He stressed that as a reliable force of the Party, State and people, the People’s Police should continue to enhance their virtue and their capacity in order to fulfil their heavy tasks in protecting national security and order.

Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang said the Standing Board of the Central Police Party Committee and ministry leaders had reviewed the correction of shortcomings following criticism and self-criticism in line with Resolution 4. They also devised a future action plan, with a view to building a strong and transparent police force who can meet requirements in the new context.

Standing Deputy Minister of Public Security, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Dang Van Hieu presented a report examining the leadership, direction and implementation of Resolution 4 and Directive 3 in the police force.

The report affirmed that a majority of Party members, officers and soldiers hail the criticism and self-criticism drive by the Central Police Party Committee’s Standing Board and the Ministry of Public Security leadership as honest, straightforward, constructive and in line with requirements of the Party Central Committee.

The public opinions also said tasks set out following the self-criticism are concrete, timely and sound, reflecting a high sense of responsibility and strong political determination, according to the report.

To rectify weaknesses and shortcomings, the Central Police Party Committee’s Standing Board and ministry leaders are set to focus on implementing the personnel plan, refining regulations, mechanisms and working procedures to improve their transparency.

They will also lay down mechanisms and specify leaders’ responsibilities for dealing with citizens’ petitions and complaints.

At the same time, the Central Police Party Committee’s Standing Board and the ministry will strengthen the fight against the so-called “peaceful evolution”, “self-evolution”, “self-transformation”, and degradation in political ideology, ethics and lifestyle among a part of the Party members.-VNA
