The State leader said at a ceremony in Hanoi on July 26, that thestrategy for judicial reforms until 2020 calls for a transparent,democratic and strict system of justice which is taking steps tomodernise to protect ordinary people’s rights and safeguard theSocialist Republic of Vietnam.
“The judicialsector should therefore constantly overhaul itself and take theinitiative in the struggle against crime, which safeguards Socialistlegislation and ensures political security and public order,” Trietemphasised.
He urged the sector to focus onimproving the quality of its staff that carry out prosecutions andsupervise judicial operations, from investigations to trials in court.
These steps are necessary to avoid offendersescaping prosecution or punishing innocent people, said the Stateleader, urging the Supreme People’s Procuracy to take a firm line oncrimes concerning corruption.
The top judicialofficer, Tran Quoc Vuong, reported at the ceremony that his agency hashelped the National Assembly and Government to recover hundreds ofbillions of VND to State coffers.
He added thatthe procuracy has also helped to bring numerous criminal cases tojustice, helping to enforce socio-economic management.
The people’s procuracy has been awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order twiceand a number of its locations and individual staff members have beenconferred with the Labour Order since its foundation on July 26, 1960./.
