Photo exhibition on Buddhist heritage opens in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA) – A photo exhibition entitled “Buddhist ruins and heritage” opened inHanoi on July 17, which was organised by the Indian Cultural Centre under theIndian Embassy in Vietnam.

The exhibition features70 photos captured by Indian photographer, film maker and art historian Benoy KBehl.

It provides anoverall perspective of monuments and art heritage of Buddhism from the earliesttime and also takes the audienceon a visual pilgrimage throughout the life of the Buddha: from his birthplace,enlightenment, first sermon and final renunciation.

On display are photographs taken inIndia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan,Buryatia (Siberia) and Kalmykia (Russia), China, Mongolia, Japan, Vietnam,Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia.

Benoy K Behl has taken over 35,000photographs of Asian monuments and cultural heritage. He also directed morethan 100 documentaries on art history and his exhibitions have been warmlyreceived in 28 countries around the world.

He is well-known for his extremelysensitive photography of Buddhist art which provides a deep insight into thegentle and compassionate message of the art.

The exhibitionruns until July 28 with free admission at the Indian Cultural Centre at 63 TranHung Dao street, Hanoi.-VNA
