The northern province of Phu Tho will spend over 5.8 trillion VND (272.6 million USD) developing its tourism sector from now until 2020, to turn the sector into the province’s economic spearhead industry.
It plans to raise the investment to around 13 trillion VND (611 million USD) by 2030.
The money will be poured into upgrading and putting into operation five key tourism facilities by 2020, including the national Hung Kings Temple tourism complex, the ecotourism site of Xuan Son National Park, the Thanh Thuy Hot Mineral Water Mine, and Van Lang and Bach Hac-Ben Got tourism areas.
Other tourism development projects will be implemented in the 2021-2030 period.
The province will step up investment in building vocational training systems for the tourism sector to ensure the supply of qualified tourism workers as well as expanding international cooperation in training and research.
It will also concentrate on building unique tourism products in combination with the Hung Kings Temple Festival and tours to local relic sites.
The province hopes to attract 6,000 international arrivals and 7.25 million domestic tourists next year, and 10,000 foreign tourists and 8.2 million local visitors by 2020.
The tourism sector is expected to earn over 564 billion VND (26.5 million USD) in revenue by 2015 and around 1.11 trillion VND (52.17 million USD) by 2020.-VNA
