The northern province of Phu Tho is carrying out numerous activities in preparation for the anniversary of Hung King death, which falls on April 4.

The activities include an inaugural ceremony of the Hung Vuong Museum in the town of Viet Tri, which will mark the opening of the Hung Temple Festival, said Pham Ba Khiem, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The museum will showcase objects used during Hung King’s dynasty as well as objects used by Ly-Tran (1010-1400) royal families in Phu Tho and items representing the province’s history.

Other event is the seventh culture, sports and tourism festival of the northeastern provinces, which will be held at the Hung temple from March 1-4 of the lunar year.

A swimming competition, the first of its kind in Phu Tho, will also take place in Viet Tri city.

At this time, Phu Tho is setting up 30 art teams to stage the province’s folk songs (Hat Xoan) and is collecting documents on “Hat Xoan” to submit to UNESCO for recognition as Intangible Cultural Heritage./.
