Phu Tho (VNA) – The northern midland province of Phu Tho will host an array of activities to mark 70 years since Uncle Ho’s visit to the Hung Kings Temple (September 19, 1954-2024).

There will be an exhibition at the Hung Kings Temple Relic Site, displaying photos, documents, objects, and literary and artistic works featuring the late leader’s visits to Phu Tho and the temple.

Streets in districts, towns, communes, and wards, as well as cultural centres, offices, and businesses will be decorated with banners, slogans, posters, and national and Party flags.

Local media will increase programmes on the 1954 visit, and the campaign on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and lifestyle, along with documentaries on Phu Tho’s socio-economic-cultural achievements.

The communications work will also be stepped up within departments, agencies, and localities.

The celebration will be integrated with cultural, sport, and art activities, including film screening.

A mobile communications contest will be held from September 15-17, expected to attract the participation of representatives from many districts and towns.

The late President visited the Hung Kings Temple twice in 1954 and 1962. He underlined that the legendary ancestors founded the nation and Vietnamese people must together enhance national protection.

President Ho Chi Minh also called for more flowers and trees to be grown at the temple.

The worship of the Hung Kings closely relates to the ancestral worship traditions of most Vietnamese families. It was recognised as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2012./.
