Built in 1958, it stands as a testament to the resilience of Vietnamese soldiers and citizens against French colonial forces. Renovated in 1994 and 2013, it has become a cultural and historical landmark honoring the martyrs.
Visitors to the cemetery are greeted by a serene atmosphere, with lush trees and neat graves leading to the Điện Biên Phủ Victory Monument. Each grave has a stone tablet with the martyr's information. Despite many unnamed graves, all are respectfully maintained.
Prominently within the cemetery are four large graves dedicated to four iconic martyrs of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
The cemetery reminds future generations to forever honor the fallen soldiers who secured national independence and sovereignty./.
