PM directs pre-Tet price stabilisation, security maintenance

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued a directiveordering relevant agencies to enhance management to stablise the prices ofessential goods and to ensure social security during Tet (Lunar New Year)festival.

ThePM asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Ministry of Finance to closelymonitor the market, especially essential goods.

Hetold the Ministry of Industry and Trade to ensure adequate supplies ofessential goods nationwide and to help local producers expand production anddistribution and encourage them to play a role in price stabilisation.

Theministry was also requested to tighten control of market prices and punishtrade fraud, price speculation, smuggling and breaches of food safety and foodhygiene regulations.

TheMinistry of Finance must strictly handle price-related violations and preventtax invasion and smuggling of high-demand products for the holiday season suchas firecrackers, tobacco, alcohol, poultry and food, he said.

ThePM assigned the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs to supportpeople who rendered services to the nation, the poor, children with difficult circumstances,ethnic minority people and other welfare beneficiaries ahead of Tet. Theministry must also take measures to prevent labour disputes, particularly infactories, industrial parks and export processing zones.

Hetasked the Ministry of Health to strengthen preventive healthcare and foodsafety management and prevent smuggling of food with no clear origin and tointensify inspections of restaurants and food processing establishments.

TheMinistry of Transport must work to meet year-end holiday travel demand, reduceroad accidents and enhance control of public listing of bus and train fares,while the Ministry of Public Security was asked to combat crimes, especially theillegal trading of firecrackers during the Tet holiday.-VNA
