Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement while receiving Indian Defence Minister Shri AK Antony, who had attended the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus (ADMM+).

While speaking highly of the result of talks between Minister Shri AK Antony and his Vietnamese counterpart Phung Quang Thanh, PM Dung said the Vietnamese government would always support the defence ministries of both countries to implement agreements reached during their talks.

He also asked India to help Vietnam with English language training for army officers.

Minister Shri AK Antony said India would take an active part in implementing agreements between the two countries, especially in cooperation with Vietnam in training pilots and military doctors.

At the separate reception given to Defence Minister Kim Tae-young of the Republic of Korea , PM Dung affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State hoped the two countries would put more effort into making their strategic partnership more effective.

Praising the MoU signed between the defence ministries of both countries, the PM asked the two sides to hold deputy ministerial level negotiations and boost cooperation in human resources, technology and information sharing.

The cooperation agreement between the two ministries would make positive contributions to the strategic partnership, he said.

Minister Kim Tae-young pledged to promote Vietnam-RoK defence cooperation.

Earlier the same day, RoK Minister Kim Tae-young had a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Phung Quang Thanh.

The two sides informed each other about the current status of each country’s military force and discussed measures for further cooperation, including increasing visits by delegations and expanding training cooperation.

The two ministers signed an MoU on cooperation between the ministries./.
