Vietnam is determined to firmly safeguard the sacred national sovereignty and will not accept or yield to any imposition, threat and dependence, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told voters on July 2.
The Government leader and National Assembly deputies of the northern city of Hai Phong held a meeting on the day with voters in Hai Phong’s Ngo Quyen district to inform them of the outcomes of the freshly-ended 7 th session of the 13 th National Assembly.
The PM Dung said China’s illegal placement of its oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf since early May has had certain impacts on the country’s socio-economic development, negatively affecting Vietnam-China relations and threatening peace, stability and security in the region.
However, with efforts made by the entire Party, army and people, the first-half socio-economic situation continued to see positive changes in all aspects.
In addition, Vietnam has stayed firm and patient in protecting the sea sovereignty through diplomatic and communication channels as well as suitable measures at the site, he added.
PM Dung stated that measures taken by Vietnam have won support from the whole nation as well as from the international community.
Countries around the world have raised their voices to back Vietnam ’s just struggle and condemned China ’s wrongful acts and violations of international law, he said, adding that no country has so far supported China ’s deeds in the East Sea .
The Party and State are urgently preparing a legal dossier, ready to bring the case of China’s violations of international law in Vietnam’s waters to international jurisdiction agencies, he said.
The country will continue implementing measures to ensure normal relations in all fields and promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation with China for the interests of both sides while considering options to deal with possible disadvantageous situations in the economic ties with the neighbouring country, he added.
Regarding socio-economic developments tasks for the second half of the year, PM Dung affirmed the Government’s strong determination to successfully implement the set objectives and tasks.
The Government will focus on removing difficulties for production and business activities, improving the investment environment and raising the competitiveness of the economy, he said.
It will also pursue resolute measures to accelerate economic restructuring, ensure social security, promote education and training, better public health care, and provide jobs for labourers while continuously enhancing the security and defence strength, he added.
Voters hailed the 7th NA session’s results and expressed their strong confidence and full support of the Party and State’s guidelines, policies and solutions in the struggle for protecting the national sea sovereignty.
They expressed their wish that the Party and State will take more resolute measures to request China to withdraw its oil rig from Vietnamese waters, further promote communication work to expose China’s wrongful acts and its scheme to occupy the entire East Sea, as well as increase investment in modern equipment for law enforcement forces at sea.
They said they want authorised agencies to further strengthen the inspection and supervision of law enforcement and take more drastic measures against corruption and wastefulness.
PM Dung, as head of the Government, promised that he will consider all opinions contributed by voters and do his utmost to fulfill all tasks entrusted by the Party, State and people.-VNA
