Vietnam is determined to firmly safeguard the sacred nationalsovereignty and will not accept or yield to any imposition, threat anddependence, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told voters on July 2.
The Government leader and National Assembly deputies of the northerncity of Hai Phong held a meeting on the day with voters in Hai Phong’sNgo Quyen district to inform them of the outcomes of the freshly-ended 7th session of the 13 th National Assembly.
The PMDung said China’s illegal placement of its oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf since earlyMay has had certain impacts on the country’s socio-economic development,negatively affecting Vietnam-China relations and threatening peace,stability and security in the region.
However, withefforts made by the entire Party, army and people, the first-halfsocio-economic situation continued to see positive changes in allaspects.
In addition, Vietnam has stayed firm andpatient in protecting the sea sovereignty through diplomatic andcommunication channels as well as suitable measures at the site, headded.
PM Dung stated that measures taken by Vietnamhave won support from the whole nation as well as from theinternational community.
Countries around the worldhave raised their voices to back Vietnam ’s just struggle andcondemned China ’s wrongful acts and violations of international law,he said, adding that no country has so far supported China ’s deeds inthe East Sea .
The Party and State are urgentlypreparing a legal dossier, ready to bring the case of China’sviolations of international law in Vietnam’s waters to internationaljurisdiction agencies, he said.
The country willcontinue implementing measures to ensure normal relations in all fieldsand promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation with China forthe interests of both sides while considering options to deal withpossible disadvantageous situations in the economic ties with theneighbouring country, he added.
Regardingsocio-economic developments tasks for the second half of the year, PMDung affirmed the Government’s strong determination to successfullyimplement the set objectives and tasks.
TheGovernment will focus on removing difficulties for production andbusiness activities, improving the investment environment and raisingthe competitiveness of the economy, he said.
It willalso pursue resolute measures to accelerate economic restructuring,ensure social security, promote education and training, better publichealth care, and provide jobs for labourers while continuously enhancingthe security and defence strength, he added.
Votershailed the 7th NA session’s results and expressed their strongconfidence and full support of the Party and State’s guidelines,policies and solutions in the struggle for protecting the national seasovereignty.
They expressed their wish that theParty and State will take more resolute measures to request China towithdraw its oil rig from Vietnamese waters, further promotecommunication work to expose China’s wrongful acts and its scheme tooccupy the entire East Sea, as well as increase investment in modernequipment for law enforcement forces at sea.
Theysaid they want authorised agencies to further strengthen the inspectionand supervision of law enforcement and take more drastic measuresagainst corruption and wastefulness.
PM Dung, ashead of the Government, promised that he will consider all opinionscontributed by voters and do his utmost to fulfill all tasks entrustedby the Party, State and people.-VNA
