Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation concluded a five-day official visit to Japan on June 8.

Before leaving Japan, the PM visited the headquarters of the Nidec-Shimpo Corporation of Nidec Group – a world’s leading hi-tech company that started operation in 1973.

Nidec has carried out investment activities in Vietnam’s southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City since 1998 with seven projects worth nearly 800 million USD, contributing to the city’s socio-economic development over the past 20 years.

The group is studying an investment project of about 500 million USD at Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, which is expected to generate tens of thousands of jobs and bring in huge export turnover.

The PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and the capital of Hanoi will create the best conditions for foreign investors, including Nidec, to operate effectively in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.

He praised Nidec’s plan to build a research and development centre in HCM City and suggested establishing a similar one in Hanoi to enhance cooperation in training and scientific research with Vietnamese universities.

Nidec President and CEO Shigenobu Nagamori thanked the Vietnamese government and particularly Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Vietnamese localities for supporting the group’s operation in the country.

He hoped to receive more assistance when investing in Hanoi.

The PM later met with leaders from the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association (JVFA)’s chapters in Osaka, Hyogo, and Nara prefectures and Sakai city.

At the meetings, Phuc recognised the chapters’ active contributions to the enhancement of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese government attaches importance to developing ties with Japanese localities and provides optimal conditions for Japanese businesses to invest in the country.

Leaders of the JVFA chapters said their organisations will closely coordinate with Vietnam in hosting activities in celebration of the 45th founding anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties in Osaka and Kansai regions in 2018.

Before concluding his official visit to Japan, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka.-VNA
