This idea was espoused by several participantsattending a Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) workshopin Can Tho city on March 26.
Attendees suggested that regionallocalities should focus on promoting eco-tourism in Cham Chim NationalPark, Lang Sen Wetland Reserve, Ca Mau mangrove swamp and Phu Quocisland district.
They said that village tourism should bedeveloped in Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Vinh Long and Hau Giang provinces andCanTho city, while spiritual and cultural tourism should be focused inAn Giang, Soc Trang and Tra Vinh.
Vu Van Thanh, deputy head ofthe VNAT’s Hotel Department, stressed the need to develop homestaytourism in eco-tourism sites across the region.
Le Thanh Phongfrom the Mekong Delta Tourism Association also urged the regionallocalities to bolster cooperation with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nangcity and the Central Highland province of Lam Dong in order to create atourism network throughout the country.
A proposal of buildingtransport infrastructure and accommodation facilities to serve tourismdevelopment was also put forth at the workshop.-VNA
