Located within the community cultural center of Vinh Thang village, the Troi tree has lived through over eight centuries, witnessing the ups and downs in the local history. For many generations, under its broad canopy, the locals have gathered for community activities, as well as to share and enjoy life together.
According to experts, the 800-year-old Troi tree is one among Vietnam's rare heritage trees. Standing over 27 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 8.2 meters and a canopy spanning 40 meters, the tree has robust roots and sprawling branches, which provide not only scenic beauty but also habitat protection for many species.
Beyond its natural significance, the Troi tree is the heart of many cultural, sporting, and spiritual events for the local community. It holds the memories and childhood stories of generations who grew up under its shade, passing down the tradition of loving and protecting nature.
In September, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment officially recognized the Troi tree in Ha Tinh as a heritage tree of Vietnam. This recognition not only helps protect biodiversity and the rich local flora, but also promotes the area's cultural and historical heritage./.
