Hanoi (VNA) – President To Lam on August 2 emphasised the need to reform the “All people’s security safeguarding” movement in terms of both form and content while attending a festival in this regard in Cua Dong ward in Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi.
President Lam said such movement has developed strongly in the capital city over the past years, with various self-managed security and safety, and anti-crime models put in place effectively, and rolled out on a national scale, lauding Cua Dong ward as a bright spot in the effort.
Stressing the important role and position of the capital city, which, he said, is the target of hostile and reactionary forces as well as crimes, adding that ensuring security and order must be a key, long-term task of the local political system.
To promote the movement, all-level Party Committees and administrations in Hanoi need to continue seriously and effectively disseminating and implementing relevant guidelines and policies, while raising public awareness of the drive, the President continued.
He suggested the combination of the drive and other emulation movements launched by the Party, the State, agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and organisations, noting role models should be commended in a timely manner, and participants injured, killed or suffering property losses should receive support.
The public security and army forces need to closely coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other agencies and socio-economic organisations in this movement, he continued.
The President also asked the locality to pay more attention to developing a contingent of grassroots police officers who have political qualities, professional expertise, and are approachable, and able to provide advice for all-level Party Committees and administrations in the implementation of the movement.
On this occasion, the State leader presented gifts to local officials and residents, role models in the movement, and disadvantaged individuals./.
