Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang on Sept. 1 presented decisions to promote officers of the Vietnam People’s Army to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General and Lieutenant General.
Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission’s Standing Board, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister; and Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Director of the General Political Department were promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General.
Major General Tran Viet Khoa, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission and Director of the Vietnam Academy of Defence, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
Speaking at the event, President Tran Dai Quang said the promotion showed the Party and State’s recognition of the officers’ dedications and contributions to the Vietnam People’s Army as well as the process of national construction and development.
Amid complicated developments in the world, the people’s armed forces and the Vietnam People’s Army in particular must heighten revolutionary vigilance and improve their combat capacity, deserving the loyal and trustworthy political and fighting force of the Party, State and people, he said.
On behalf of the promoted officers, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phan Van Giang pledged to strive to fulfill all tasks assigned by the Party, State, people and army.-VNA
