State President Nguyen Minh Triet on May 31 presented the first-class Labour Order to Ba Dinh district of Hanoi, at a ceremony to mark the 50 th anniversary of the district’s foundation (May 31, 1961-2011).

Party General Secretary and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong sent a basket of flowers and a message of congratulations to the district.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ngo Thi Doan Thanh, Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council, praised the achievements of the authorities and people of Da Dinh district during the past five decades.

As a place where the leading agencies of the Party and State were located, Ba Dinh district always required the maintenance of political security and social order and safety as leading priorities, ensuring the best service for the Party and State’s internal and external affairs, she said.

As a national political and administrative centre, Ba Dinh district had been selected to implement the great and important guidelines of the Party and State on a trial basis, she said.

Ba Dinh district was set up on May 31, 1961 under the Government’s decision on Hanoi ’s administrative apparatus, including four inner districts of Hoan Kiem, Dong Da, Ba Dinh and Hai Ba Trung, and four outskirts districts, namely Tu Liem, Thanh Tri, Gia Lam and Dong Anh.

Over the past 10 years, the district’s budget collection increased by 30 times to 3 trillion VND in 2010, making active contributions together with the capital city and the nation to overcoming difficulties and challenges derived from the global economic downturn./.
