As many as 400 revolutionary soldiers who once were imprisoned by the enemy during the resistance wars attended a meeting with President Truong Tan Sang in the capital on October 2 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day (October 10).
The event provides an opportunity for the former inmates to recount their heroic efforts to survive in physical and mental hardships they endured during their imprisonment during the wars against the French colonialists and American forces.
Addressing the ex-prisoners, the President hailed the sacrifices they made for the liberation of their country, and called upon them to continue contributing to the processes of nation-building and development.
He also asked relevant agencies to implement the Party and State’s social policies supporting those who served their country.-VNA
