BacKan (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc met in Hanoi on November 17 a delegation of reputablepeople and exemplary village heads in the northern province of Bac Kan on the occasion the 91st anniversary of Traditional Day of theVietnam Fatherland Front (November 18) and 18 years of launching the great national unity festival.

ThePresident affirmed the position and role of reputable people and exemplary village heads in bringing the Party’s policiesand orientations and the State’s law to ethnic communities.

He affirmed leaders of ministries, sectors and localities,including Bac Kan, and the entire political system have to continue payingattention to the 13th National Party Congress’s point of view onbuilding a contingent of personnel and people with typical prestige in ethnicminority areas.

Localitiesalso need to pay attention to fostering, arranging, and employing reputablepeople in social and mass organisations in residential areas, he said,adding that it is also necessary to early detect young, positive, enthusiastic,innovative faces to "rejuvenate" the prestigious teams.

The President suggested that village heads and reputable people in BacKan in particular and the entire country in general should constantly upholdtheir pivotal role in all aspects of social life; mobilise people to wellobserve the of orientations and policies of the Party as well as the law of theState; and be responsible for helping people overcome poverty./.

According to the document, at around 13:00 on July 11, an especially serious waterway traffic accident occurred about 200 metres off Hon May Rut Ngoai Island. Passenger canoe AG-26751, carrying 32 Indian tourists and three crew members, capsized while travelling from Hon May Rut Ngoai Island to An Thoi Port, claiming 15 lives as of 15:00 the same day.

Search and rescue underway after tourist speedboat capsizes off Phu Quoc

According to the local authorities, the canoe operated by Ocean Pearl Island Company was transporting 32 Indian tourists and three crew members, including one captain, one mechanic, and one staff member, capsized while en route from May Rut Ngoai Island to An Thoi Port amid strong wave and wind condition. As a result, by 15:00 on July 11, the accident had claimed 15 lives.

Man jailed for smashing Nguyen Dynasty throne armrest

According to the indictment, Tam bought an admission ticket to the citadel around noon on May 24, 2025. Once inside Thai Hoa Palace, he climbed over a protective barrier, sat on the "Nguyen Dynasty Throne", and broke off the front-left armrest before striking the artifact further and shattering the broken section into multiple pieces.

By the end of May this year, localities across had implemented simplification measures for 411 administrative procedures, including abolishing 86 processes, amending or supplementing 111 and retaining 214, contributing to improved efficiency of the State administrative apparatus as well as helping citizens and businesses.
